Privacy Policy for Tipsy Berry
Last updated: April 30, 2026
Tipsy Berry ("we", "our", "us") built Tipsy Berry as an offline cocktail companion app. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you use the app, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information. By using the app you agree to this policy.
1. Information We Collect
App Data — Offline, On-Device Only
The following data is created and stored exclusively on your device. It is never transmitted to us or any third party:
- Favorites & notes: recipes you have hearted, star ratings, and text notes you write.
- Photos: optional photos you attach to recipe notes are saved to the app's private documents directory only and are never uploaded.
- My Bar inventory: the spirits, liqueurs, and mixers you catalogue in the app.
- Shopping list entries: manually added or auto-generated grocery items.
- Daily-spin records: the local calendar log that tracks your one-spin-per-day limit.
- Settings preferences: measurement units, temperature display, Show ABV toggle, Hide Alcoholic Drinks toggle, and daily-reminder opt-in.
Privacy Plugin / Attribution Data
The app is distributed through an operator platform that uses a shared privacy and attribution plugin. This plugin collects the following data on our behalf via third-party SDKs at app launch:
- Google Advertising ID (GAID): A resettable advertising identifier provided by Android, used for attribution and fraud prevention. You can reset or opt out in your device settings under Privacy > Ads. Google Privacy Policy
- User ID: A UUID generated locally on first launch and stored on-device. Used to correlate attribution events without identifying you personally.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token: A device token generated by Firebase to enable the delivery of notifications. Collected even if you have not opted into the daily reminder; used only for notification capability. Firebase Privacy & Security
- Device information: device model, manufacturer, Android OS version, language, and region/locale. Used to troubleshoot issues and optimise app performance.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Attribution: We use GAID, User ID, and device info to understand which marketing channels led to installs and to measure campaign effectiveness through AppsFlyer.
- Fraud prevention: Attribution data helps identify and block fraudulent installs.
- Daily reminder notifications: If you opt in to the daily reminder in Settings, the app schedules a local notification on your device at your chosen time. No FCM message is sent to you unless a server-side notification campaign is launched; the FCM token is held ready for that capability.
- App improvement: Aggregated, non-identifiable device and locale data helps us prioritise fixes and features.
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share attribution and device data with the following service providers solely to operate the app:
- Google Play Services / Google AdID — provides the GAID.
Privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy - Firebase / Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google LLC) — provides FCM tokens and notification infrastructure.
Privacy policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy - AppsFlyer Ltd. — mobile attribution and marketing analytics; receives GAID, User ID, install source, and device info.
Privacy policy: https://www.appsflyer.com/legal/services-privacy-policy/
All other data (favorites, photos, bar inventory, notes) remains on your device and is never shared.
4. Data Storage and Security
On-device app data is stored in the app's private sandbox using Flutter's local storage APIs and is subject to your device's own encryption and access controls. Attribution data transmitted to AppsFlyer and Firebase is processed and stored on their servers under the security standards described in their respective privacy policies. We do not operate our own servers for this app. We use reasonable technical measures to protect data in transit via HTTPS.
5. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to:
- Access: request a copy of data we hold about you.
- Correction: request that inaccurate data be corrected.
- Deletion: request deletion of your personal data. On-device data can be deleted by uninstalling the app. For attribution data, contact us or exercise your rights directly through AppsFlyer's opt-out page.
- Opt-out of personalised advertising: reset your GAID or opt out in your device settings under Privacy > Ads.
- Withdraw notification consent: disable the daily reminder in Settings or turn off notifications for the app in your device settings.
To exercise any right, email [email protected].
6. Children's Privacy
Tipsy Berry contains cocktail recipes and displays alcohol by volume (ABV) information. The app is intended for users who are of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction (21 and older in the United States). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone below the legal drinking age. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.
7. International Users
If you use the app outside the country in which our operator is based, your attribution data may be transferred to and processed in a country with different data protection laws. By using the app you consent to this transfer. We rely on our service providers' standard contractual clauses and privacy frameworks to safeguard international transfers.
8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information. To submit a request, email [email protected]. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For material changes we will provide a more prominent notice.
